Danny Ainge says it’s time for change. The aging and struggling Boston Celtics are a hot button of rumors and speculations for the trading season. Celtics fans are anticipating big shake ups, potentially starting with the “Big Three”.
With the faint glimmer of the old glory in their minds, the Celtics are exploring all their options, the best being out with some of the old, and in with the new.
Here is a look at five moves the Celtics should make NOW.
Reserve guard Avery Bradley has had the support of Danny Ainge ever since the Celtics drafted him in the first round in 2010. Although he has never had the opportunity to benefit from a consistent offseason training program due to an injury his rookie year and the lock out his sophomore year, he is starting to develop into a strong contributor for Boston. Ainge has insisted that all he needed was playing time to develop into the potential he saw, and with Rondo out the last few games he has been able to see the court.
Right now, the Philadelphia 76ers are 12-5 with Jodie Meeks as the starting shooting guard.
And most importantly, unless that record changes dramatically, it should stay that way.
The Sixers have been winning with their formula and shouldn’t look to make a move as long as it’s giving them the desired results.
In 17 games this season, Meeks has averaged 9.5 points per game while shooting 41 percent from three as the starting shooting guard.
His three-point shot is his greatest asset, and his amazing performance during the early part of last year (particularly a game in which he hit six threes in a quarter) earned him the starting nod on the team.
